How to use the 1 hour timer

Set it and forget it: the 1 hour timer counts down 60 minutes and plays an alarm when the hour is up. Because an hour is long enough to lose track of, the page shows the finish time as soon as you start, for example "ends at 4:15 PM".

  1. Press Start or Space.
  2. Choose an alarm you will notice after an hour of focus.
  3. Keep working in other tabs; the time left appears in the tab title.
  4. If you get interrupted, pause with Space and resume when you're back.

When an hour is the right block

Tests and timed practice. Plenty of quizzes, unit tests and practice exams run 60 minutes. Display the countdown in full screen with F. If you want warnings before time runs out, the exam timer alerts at 30, 10 and 5 minutes left and shows the start and finish times.

Deep work. One uninterrupted hour on a single task gets more done than three scattered ones. Close other notifications and let the alarm decide when you surface. Prefer breaks built in? The 50/10 timer splits each hour into 50 minutes of work and 10 of rest.

Meetings, workouts and lessons. A visible hour keeps a meeting or private lesson from running over.

Keeping a long timer reliable

The countdown checks your system clock, so it stays on time even in a background tab. Two things to watch over a full hour: keep the tab open, since the alarm only plays while the page is open, and keep a phone plugged in or awake, because not every mobile browser honors the screen-awake request.
