How to set an 8 minute timer
When a recipe, coach or teacher says "8 minutes," this 8 minute timer has it ready: it counts down from 8:00 and sounds an alarm when it's done. Press Start once – there's nothing to type.
Eight minutes is rarely a round number people pick for fun. It usually comes from an instruction: a recipe step, a training plan, or a teacher's directions. That's exactly when a preset timer saves you a few taps.
Where eight minutes shows up
Cooking. Recipes often say "simmer for 8 minutes," and many boxes of dried pasta give cooking times in the 8 to 12 minute range. Check your package, start the timer when the pasta goes in, and taste a minute early.
Running. An 8-minute mile is a common pace goal. Start the timer at the line and see where you are when it rings. For laps or repeats, the stopwatch may suit you better.
Timed writing. Short free-writing or a timed essay prompt in class. Press F for full screen so students can see the time without asking.
A quick reset. Eight minutes is enough to fold one load of laundry or clear your inbox of the easy replies.

FAQ
Is there an 8 minute timer with music? No music plays during the countdown; you get an alarm at the end. Choose Guitar if you want something more musical.
Will it work in the background on my laptop? Yes. Time is measured against your system clock, and the remaining time shows in the tab title. Keep the tab open for the alarm.
