How to use the 55 minute timer

This 55 minute timer counts down from 55:00 and sounds an alarm at zero. Press Start and the page shows when it will end, such as "ends at 10:55 AM."

The case for 55 minutes

Fifty-five minutes is an hour with a five-minute buffer built in. That small gap is the whole point:

  • Meetings and calls. End a one-hour slot five minutes early so you have time before the next one.
  • Class periods. Many traditional school periods are somewhere around 45 to 55 minutes. Teachers can project the countdown in full screen.
  • Deep work. Fifty-five minutes of focus, then a five-minute stretch before the top of the hour.
  • Tutoring or lessons booked by the hour, leaving time to wrap up and set homework.

Using it

  1. Press Start or hit Space.
  2. Choose a sound. Bell or Success are clear without being jarring in a quiet room.
  3. Pause with Space if you get interrupted, and resume when you're back.

If you prefer a fixed focus/break rhythm, the 50/10 timer repeats 50 minutes of focus and 10 minutes of break, and the 52/17 timer uses a longer break.
