Using the 30 minute timer
One click starts a 30 minute timer: a half-hour countdown that rings when the time is up. While it runs, it shows the time it will end, so you know at a glance that a 2:10 PM start means a 2:40 PM finish.
- Press Start (or Space).
- Pick an alarm sound you will notice from across the room – Doorbell and Announce are hard to miss.
- Leave the tab open and carry on; the time left stays visible in the tab title.
- Pause with Space, reset with R.
A half hour, used well
Exercise. U.S. health guidelines suggest adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, which works out to 30 minutes on five days. A timer makes it easier to stop checking the clock and just walk.
Homework or study blocks. Thirty minutes is a manageable chunk for one subject. Follow it with a short break, or use the Pomodoro timer if you prefer 25-minute sessions with breaks built in.
Meetings and calls. Put the timer in full screen during a 30-minute meeting so everyone can see how much time is left before the next agenda item.
Screen-time limits for kids
"Thirty minutes of tablet time" is easier to enforce when the countdown is visible and the alarm, not a parent, announces the end. For younger children who can't read digits yet, the visual timer shows the time as a shrinking colored disc.
FAQ
Will the 30 minute timer work if my phone screen turns off? The page asks the browser to keep the screen awake while running, but not every mobile browser allows it. If you need the alarm, keep the screen on and the tab open.
Can I change it to 35 or 40 minutes? Yes – use Set Time or the links to nearby durations.
