Keyboard: Space to start or pause, R to reset, F for full screen. The alarm plays while this page stays open in a browser tab.

How to use the aesthetic timer

The aesthetic timer is a clean, calm countdown on soft gradient backgrounds. Pick a theme that matches your desk, choose a countdown or Pomodoro 25/5 mode, and go full screen for a timer that looks as good as your study setup.

  1. Choose a theme: Sunset, Lavender, Matcha, Ocean, Midnight or Peach.
  2. Pick a font: soft and rounded, or a digital clock look.
  3. Select a countdown preset (5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 45 or 60 minutes) or switch to the Pomodoro 25/5 mode.
  4. Press Start, then F for full screen.

Your theme and settings are remembered on your device, so the timer looks the same next time you open it.

Six themes, each with its own mood

  • Sunset: warm oranges and pinks for a cozy evening study session.
  • Lavender: soft purple tones that feel quiet and relaxed.
  • Matcha: gentle greens that go well with plants and natural wood desks.
  • Ocean: cool blues for a calm, clear-headed feel.
  • Midnight: a dark theme that's easier on the eyes for late-night work.
  • Peach: light, warm and cute, great for a bright daytime setup.

Pair the theme with the font: the soft font suits Peach and Lavender, while the digital font looks sharp on Midnight and Ocean.

A cute Pomodoro timer for study sessions

Switch to the Pomodoro mode for 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, the classic Pomodoro rhythm. It's the same method many students use, just with a softer look. If you'd rather have the full-featured version with longer-break settings, use the main Pomodoro timer.

A pretty timer isn't just decoration. When your study space feels pleasant, it's easier to sit down and start, and a calm screen is less distracting than a busy one full of notifications.

Ideas for your setup

  • Second monitor or tablet: run the timer full screen on a spare screen next to your laptop as a desk display, so you can see the time without switching windows.
  • Study-with-me videos and streams: the full-screen view has nothing on it but the timer and background, so if you record or stream your study sessions, you can capture the browser window with your usual recording software.
  • Library or café: set your laptop to the timer between sessions to remind yourself when your break ends.
  • Group study: put it on a shared screen so everyone works and breaks together.

Which preset should you use?

Use 25 minutes or the Pomodoro mode for focused study blocks, 45 or 60 minutes for longer reading or writing sessions, and 5, 10 or 15 minutes for breaks or quick review. If you like longer blocks with a built-in break, the 50/10 timer runs 50 minutes of focus and 10 minutes of rest on repeat.

Practical details

Like every PomoTimer tool, it's free with no sign-up and no ads. Time is measured against your system clock, so it stays accurate when the tab is in the background, and the remaining time shows in the tab title. An alarm sound plays at the end (choose from sounds like Bell, Magic or Success, or mute it), but only while the page is open. The screen stays awake while the timer runs where your browser supports it.

FAQ

Can I use the aesthetic timer as a desk clock all day?

It's a countdown timer rather than a clock, but you can run back-to-back sessions on it all day. If you just want to display the time, see the current time page.

Is there a dark aesthetic theme?

Yes. Midnight is a dark theme, which is easier on the eyes at night and looks good on a dimly lit desk.

Can I upload my own background?

Not at the moment. The timer comes with six built-in gradient themes: Sunset, Lavender, Matcha, Ocean, Midnight and Peach.
